Structured, Peer-Led Sober Living for Men and Women in Boise
Phoenix House is a peer-led sober living community with 5 men’s homes and 2 women’s homes in Boise, plus a men’s home in Nampa. We provide safe, drug- and alcohol-free housing where residents hold each other accountable, build real community, and rebuild their families and their lives. We’re housing, not treatment, so many residents attend outpatient care while living with us.

Men $625/month or $165/week. Women $595/month or $165/week. No security deposit.

Every home is fully furnished and includes: bedding, Wi-Fi, cable and big-screen TVs, computers and printers, paper products, basic home supplies, and coffee. Food is not provided.
Men’s and Women’s Sober Living Homes
Phoenix House has 5 men’s homes and 2 women’s homes in Boise, mostly on the west side, plus 1 men’s home in Nampa. Exact addresses are shared after you’re accepted.
- Single-gender homes. Men’s homes welcome men, trans men, and non-binary residents. Women’s homes welcome women, trans women, and non-binary residents. We don’t house couples together.
- Shared rooms, no bunk beds. Most rooms are double occupancy, sized to National Association of Recovery Residences (NARR) standards. Private rooms are earned through seniority and good standing.
- Families welcome. Children can live in the home with their parent, except children over 12 of the opposite sex. Children need their own paperwork. Moms, see our women’s homes.
How Phoenix House Works
Phoenix House is peer-led sober living, not treatment. We don’t provide clinical services, medication management, or 24/7 on-site staff. Residents run their homes together through trained peer leaders, and many attend outpatient treatment while living here.
- Random drug and alcohol testing
- At least 3 recovery meetings a week, plus a weekly house meeting
- Daily assigned chores
- Curfew is 10 PM for your first 30 days, then 11 PM in good standing, with exceptions for work and recovery activities
- Medication-assisted treatment welcome, including Suboxone and methadone when medically supervised
- Probation and parole welcome. With your written permission, we can send an acceptance letter or residence verification to your PO, attorney, or court.
How to Move In
- Apply free online. It takes a few minutes, and applying puts you on our list.
- Interview. After we review your application, we call to set up an interview, usually with peer leaders from the home.
- Move in. If you’re approved, we schedule your intake and move-in. You pay the move-in fee and your first week or month.

Sober Living in Boise: Frequently Asked Questions
Is Phoenix House treatment or rehab?
No. Phoenix House is peer-led sober living, not treatment. We don’t provide clinical services, medication management, or 24/7 on-site staff. You are welcome to attend outpatient treatment while living with us.
How much does it cost to move in?
There is no security deposit. You pay a one-time, non-refundable move-in fee ($200 for men; waived for women) plus your first week or month. Men’s homes are $625/month or $165/week, and women’s homes are $595/month or $165/week.
Do you accept insurance, Medicaid, or other funding?
Medicaid and private insurance don’t pay for sober living rent, because we don’t provide clinical services. We accept TTF funding through the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC must confirm it before move-in). Magellan is accepted only at our Nampa men’s home and must be authorized before move-in.
Do I need a job?
You don’t need a job to apply, but you do need a plan to pay rent. That can be work, disability or Social Security income, or other support.
Can I live here if I’m on probation or parole?
Yes. With your written permission, we can provide an acceptance letter or residence verification to your PO, attorney, or court.
Do you accept people on Suboxone or methadone?
Yes, as long as it’s medically supervised. Prescription medications must be kept secured. Kratom is not allowed.
Do you allow visitors?
Yes. Visitors are welcome during visiting hours, noon to 8 PM.
How long is the wait?
Availability changes weekly. The fastest way to get a bed is to apply now, because your application puts you on our list.
